The EPA Waste and Circularity Community of Practice (COP) was established in 2022 and is managed by 20FIFTY Partners.
The CoP facilitates a peer-to-peer knowledge sharing platform for industry to engage in cross-cutting themes that align with Ireland’s circular economy priority areas. This CoP empowers Irish enterprises across public bodies, semi-state organisations, SMEs and large industry to collaborate in the development of standardised and universal management methodologies, tools and benchmarks.
Participating sites recognise the challenges of sustainable resource management and the opportunities presented by the adoption of circularity strategies from both a sustainability and economic perspective. They come from diverse sectors and backgrounds but are united in their ambition to demonstrate innovative resource efficiency and circularity solutions in their businesses.
The core activities of the Community of Practice include:-
- Quarterly Meetings focussed on the sharing of best practice, peer to peer discussions, case studies and engagement with national stakeholders across a series of thematic areas
- In-company projects where new tools and approaches are developed and tested at individual members sites with a view to providing standardised, practical approaches which are transferable across all member sites subsequently.
- Training programmes. Through partnership with the Climate Ready Academy and other national training initiatives, member firms identify and rollout specialised training and skills development programmes nationally.
